The Victoria Grizzlies are pleased to announced that defenseman Matthew Doran has received a scholarship to play for the Alaska Fairbanks – NCAA Division 1 Nanooks.
The hard nosed defenseman from St.Louis, who is in his final year of Junior eligibility will join the Nanooks next season. Doran has flourished offensively for the Grizzlies this season as he currently sits as the number two goal scoring defensemen in the league with 9 goals. As well he sits with 20 assists for a total of 29 points.
“We are extremely happy for Matt, he has worked really hard to reach his goal of playing College hockey. He has had a great season and this honour is well deserved,” commented Grizzlies GM/Head Coach Craig Didmon.
“I am very excited to be going to Alaska Fairbanks, I know the facilities and coaching staff are top notch. I felt like it was the best place for me to go to continue my hockey career and start my college education.”- added Doran
