The Victoria Grizzlies Junior Hockey Club are proud to announce the hiring of David Michaud as the team’s president.
Michaud has spent the previous 5 seasons leading the BC Hockey League’s (BCHL) Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
Under Michaud’s leadership, the Bulldogs evolved into one of the BCHL’s top franchises, both on and off the ice. The Bulldogs reached the BCHL’s Final 4 in back-to-back seasons and played in their first ever BCHL Championship series in 2022-2023.
The on-ice success translated to the box office where the Bulldogs averaged over 100% of their seating capacity for the 2023-2024 season.
Michaud won a BCHL championship with the Penticton Vees in 2016-2017, and a BC Major Midget title in 2013.
“I’m really excited to take on the challenge of returning the Grizzlies to their elite status in the BCHL.” said Michaud. “The hockey product with Rylan Ferster and the staff at the helm is in great shape, however It’s no secret that there is a lot of work to be done bringing people back to the Q Centre. This is one of the best buildings in the BCHL and our group will work tirelessly to deliver a product that the Westshore will be proud to support, both on and off the ice.”
On behalf of the entire organization, I am thrilled to welcome David as our new team president,” said the Grizzlies’ new owner Jim Hartshorne. “His extensive experience and passion for the game will be invaluable as we strive to achieve new heights. We look forward to his leadership and vision in guiding our team to success on and off the ice.”
