The Victoria Grizzlies are excited to announce the addition of Matt Korchmar as the club’s Goaltender Development Coach
Korchmar is a distinguished former Jr. A goalie and coach in the BCHL and AJHL. His impressive track record of guiding teams to championships is a testament to his expertise and commitment. Matt is known for his unique approach to goaltender development, emphasizing accountability and the cultivation of daily habits that are essential for achieving success at the NCAA level, winning championships, and securing professional contracts. Currently, Matt works with a diverse roster of goaltenders from the NHL, NCAA, BCHL, and WHL across Canada and is eager to bring his experience to the Grizzlies organization.
“I am very passionate about junior hockey and the significant impact organizations like the Grizzlies can have on their communities. I’m confident in the team’s hockey operations and leadership, and I’m committed to providing the highest level of sports entertainment for fans. My primary objective is to help the players secure NCAA scholarships and to bring a championship title home to Victoria”
Korchmar has experience with the Grizzlies as he’s worked with veteran goaltender Oliver Auyeung-Ashton for several years. Committed to Colgage, Auyeung-Ashton has appeared in 69 games for the Grizzlies over his first two BCHL season.
