Victoria, BC ~ The Cowichan Valley Capitals used three power play goals on Wednesday night to keep their season alive and hand Victoria a 6-5 loss at the Q Centre.

The Capitals began on the front foot by going ahead just 1:25 into the game thanks to Carl Jacobsen’s first of the playoffs. Unfortunately for them the Grizzlies responded back just over a minute later with Tom Molson (6) finishing a feed cross ice from Will Schumacher.

Molson (7) found the net again just over six minutes later before the Capitals struck during a two minute five on three power play. Camden Bajzer (7) was the man tying the game for the Caps.

Victoria retook the lead with under four minutes to play in the first with their own power play tally. Tobias Pitka (5) one timed a puck home from the bumper position to stake the Grizzlies to a lead heading to the second.

Cowichan opened the second period with two power plays and they scored on both of them. First it was Nico Beaudoin (4) and then it was Jack McAra (2) putting the visitors ahead.

Camden Charron (1) added to that lead making it 5-3 Cowichan with 15:36 gone, however Tom Molson (8) netted his hat trick goal two and a half minutes later to pull Victoria back within one.

Cowichan would respond with 1:20 to go in the second with Jack McAra (3) giving the Capitals a 6-4 lead heading into the third.

Victoria pushed in the third period outshooting the Caps 19-6 and got within a goal late off the stick of Tobias Pitka (6) on a man advantage but it was to little to late and the Capitals would keep their season alive with a 6-5 victory.

Oliver Auyeung-Ashton made 34 saves on 40 shots for Victoria while Dylan Krick made 32 saves on 37 Grizzlies shots in the Cowichan crease.

Game five is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday night in Duncan at the Cowichan Community Arena as Victoria will get their second shot to close out the series.
